Norm will be missed. He was a very nice man to talk with and spend time with.

I am part of Norm's Family, his fourth grandson, Carson. I knew my grandfather, and went out to our cabin with him every year for 12 years. He was among the biggest influences on my life, and watching his two-and-a-half year battle with brain and mouth cancer ate me up inside, but I fooled myself into thinking it would all turn out okay. the news of his passing was broken to me the day before he passed, and because of it, I was a broken boy. Even then, I tried to trick myself into thinking he would STILL be okay, inside, I knew he was going, but I wasn't comfortable with it, because I loved my grandfather, and didn't want to see him go. We had a turkey dinner with him in early September of 2013, at his request, and that was the last time a lot of us, (myself included) saw him. Now, We plan to have a turkey dinner every year from now on, to honour our memory of him, and to this day, I try to be happy that I knew such a wonderful man, and was a part of his family, but deep down, I am broken, because I miss him, and hated to see how much his condition had broken down. Rest In Peace Grandpa, I love you. With Love, Your Grandson, Carson.

I worked for Norm from 1972 - 1976 and we had a great time and he was the best supervisor ever. When I told him I was taking an extra long weekend to visit a friend that moved to Vancouver, he said 'just don't stay there'. Of course, that Friday he received a call from Pacific Western saying I was looking for a job and would he give a good recommendation. He said 'no I would never hire her - just kidding'. I left 2 weeks later and have been married to my husband for 36 years so I made the right decision but I never had a better boss. He absolutely adored his family and spoke about them all the time. I am sorry such a wonderful, kind and loving individual had to suffer with cancer. My prayers are with the family.

My deepest Sympathies to Fij's family. He was my best Supervisor ever at Air Canada and all of us had a blast working for him. We always knew when he was in his cubicle because the smoke was rising. I am sorry I lost touch with him as he was a friend to all. Memories will always be with us though. RIP
