Hi Linda and family, I am so sorry to hear of Garry’s (Mr. Winfield as I knew him) passing. I have always felt that he was my favourite teacher at Ness Jr. High. I saw him off and on for many years when my dad was alive and always enjoyed talking with him. I take comfort in the thought that Garry and my dad will be fishing together again.

Hi Linda, I was so sorry to hear about Garry, but at the same time, I thought what a great way to leave this life, peacefully, and in no pain or lingering distress. That is what I hope to do. I was a colleague of Garry’s for many years at Ness Junior High. Those were wonderful years. Most of us would be in the staff room by 7:30 am, sharing stories, coffee and laughter before we went out to meet the challenge of educating and empowering adolescents. Garry was one of my Facebook friends, and his few posts in the last few years were always about his family and especially his grandchildren. He loved you all. Lorna Rothwell
